1. Check the Extension Installation
Step | What to Do | Tip |
Installed? | Make sure the Inbox Chrome extension is installed from the Chrome Web Store | Missing it? Install or reinstall it |
Correct account? | Verify you’re logged into the right X account when connecting | Using multiple accounts? Double-check which one is linked |
Floating icon visible? | Look for the Inbox floating icon on X.com | If it’s missing, reinstall the extension |
2. Connect your X Account
Step | What to Do | Tip |
Link account | Click the Inbox floating icon → select your account → click Link | Make sure initial setup is completed |
Reconnect if needed | If syncing fails, go to Linked Accounts → disconnect & reconnect | Re-authenticate if the connection dropped |
3. Browser Quick Fixes
Step | What to Do | Tip |
Restart browser
| Close and reopen your browser completely
| Helps refresh the extension and sync process |
Wait for syncing | Small inboxes (<100 contacts) sync instantly, large inboxes may take hours | No need to keep the browser open—sync happens in the cloud |
4. XChat Pin (Encrypted Messages)
Step | What To Do | Tip |
Enter PIN | If using XChat, input your XChat PIN | Without it, encrypted messages won’t sync |
5. Sync Expectations & Notes
Small inboxes: instant sync
Large inboxes: may take several hours
Older encrypted messages may not show due to X updates, but new messages sync normally
